TCA Auditorium Addition Project

Phase 1: Demolition of the old auditorium lobby began May 27, 2008. Excavation of
the new lobby site is going on now. There will be 3,500 square feet of new addition
that will include the lobby (also an exhibition space), an indoor box office with an exterior
window for outside ticket sales, new projection and technical booths, a larger, more
functional concession stand and large handicap accessible restrooms.

The planning and design are complete for the total master plan that includes
back stage storage, class rooms, dressing rooms and a black box theatre.

Funds for this project came from the New Mexico State Legislature with the help of the Town of Taos and the TCA board of directors. The auditorium is owned by the Town of Taos and managed by the Taos Center for the Arts. It is our goal to continue working with the town to secure the funding needed for the total master plan to be completed.
The TCA is working hard to raise additional funds to upgrade the film sound system, improve and upgrade the lighting equipment and install a system for the hearing impared before the auditorium reopens in December. Our auditorium benefits the whole community of Taos from our children to our elders. We need your help to accomplish our goals.
